Hi guys,
Let’s talk about Hummus! Is there anyone in the world who doesn’t like hummus?? well maybe, but we love it and can eat an entire bowl in one sitting. Hummus is so delicious and versatile that I could not imagine my life without it, as a vegan this is a staple for me and one dip that I have to have in my fridge at all times.
Hummus can be considered a healthy food, but regular recipes sometimes call for quite a bit of olive oil and salt, so I decided to switch a few ingredients and play with the recipe to make it a bit healthier and lighter for my family.
This recipe is very flavorful and because there is no olive oil involved it is very light and the avocado makes it super creamy. I also added a few surprise ingredients like the jalapeño slices and the parsley that make it super flavorful, these are optional but I recommend that you try and see if you like it.
Ok, so let’s get cooking!

Ingredients:
- 1 15oz can of garbanzo beans (drained and rinsed)
- 1/2 of a large avocado
- 2 tablespoons of Tahini
- 1 tablespoon of pickled jalapeños (optional but recommended for flavor)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup of water
- 1 teaspoon of salt (more to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic salt
- 1 small bunch of flat leaf parsley (optional but recommended)
Method:
Put all Ingredients in a food processor or high speed blender and blend until smooth.
You can play with the consistency by adding more water if you want it to be smoother or less if you want it to be thicker.

Serve it in a deep dish and enjoy with fresh veggies, add it to salads as a dressing, use it in wraps or just eat it by itself, it is that good! 🙂

I hope you give this recipe a try and hopefully you love it as much as we do. Remember to let me know and give your feedback if you try any of the recipes on the blog.
Until next time…
Love,
Yesika
